The Students Winners Showcase Webinar, hosted by the Training Technical Group, highlights outstanding student projects and research in human factors and ergonomics. Speakers of this webinar are recipients of either ‘Best Student Paper’ or ‘Best Student Proposal’ award by the TTG at previous HFES Annual Meetings. Designed for students, early career researchers, industry professionals, and researchers, the event showcases innovative work and fosters professional development. This webinar provides an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest advancements and trends from emerging scholars in the field.
Ashley Warren
Best Student Paper 2023
Ashley Warren received her undergraduate degrees in psychology and international studies at the University of Idaho, working in the Palouse Injury Research Lab. Ashley has just completed her master’s degree, with the guidance of Dr. Robert Proctor in the cognitive psychology doctoral program at Purdue University. After Dr. Proctor’s passing, Ashley transitioned to Rice University to work with Dr. Jing Chen. Ashley is currently working towards her PhD, in the human factors psychology doctoral program at Rice University. She is interested in teaching and researching basic and applied aspects of human performance, specifically with an emphasis on stimulus-response compatibility effects, the relation between perception and action, and training and transfer.
Reganne Miller
Best Student Proposal 2023
Reganne Miller is a third-year graduate student in the Engineering Psychology program at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She received her B.S. in Psychology with a minor in integrated science from Morehead State University (MSU) in Kentucky in 2022. While at MSU, she was a member of the George M. Luckey, Jr. Academic Honors Program. She also held the position of lab manager for the Human Factors Lab under the direction of Dr. Gregory M. Corso. At Georgia Tech, Reganne is a member of the Problem Solving and Educational Technology (PSET) Lab under the guidance of Dr. Richard Catrambone. Her research interests include education and educational technology, with an emphasis on online learning and pedagogical agents. Reganne also serves as the vice president of Georgia Tech’s chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES).
Xiang Yang
Best Student Proposal 2021
Xiang Yang is a third-year Ph.D. candidate at Virginia Tech specializing in Human Factors and Ergonomics. With a strong engineering background and extensive research experience, Xiang Yang's work focuses on developing and implementing innovative engineering solutions to enhance workplace safety and ergonomics. His research aims to investigate and mitigate occupational hazards, reduce workplace injuries, and create safer, more satisfying working environments. His current research interest is in improving the usability of vibrotactile warnings in noisy and visually overloaded occupational environments. Xiang Yang is particularly interested in applying advanced methodologies to solve complex safety issues in diverse occupational settings, integrating ergonomic principles with cutting-edge technology.
